Care Compliments

Michael H.

My name is Ron, and I had a bilateral endoscopic sinus surgery, partial adenoidectomy, septoplasty, and turbinate reduction surgery with Dr. Michael Holliday. Before this major surgery, I suffered my entire life from nasal obstruction, chronic sinusitis, and recurrent debilitating sinus infections. I continued to see different ENTs until shortly before I met Dr. Holliday, but my search for an ENT truly began when I was a child. Back then, my parents took me to many different ENTs from different hospitals with the intention of finding a solution to improve the quality of my life. Throughout my life, all of these ENTs would prescribe me an antibiotic when I fell ill, advise me to continue using a nasal steroid alongside a daily sinus rinse, and then send me on my way. They did not ever offer me the option of sinus surgery, despite my history of sinusitis. These ENTs also unanimously refused to operate on my adenoids, which were one of the main causes of my nasal obstruction, because they feared complications.

I saw Dr. Holliday in the middle of a terrible sinus infection. He ordered a CT scan and saw that all of my sinuses were completely obstructed. Dr. Holliday then realized I needed to have sinus surgery. In addition, he observed that my turbinates were inflamed and my left septum was deviated, and proposed procedures to correct those issues. Importantly, he offered a solution for my adenoids that would avoid complications, namely to remove the top half, while keeping the other half intact. This surgery was originally scheduled for a few months later, but after he saw the severity of my situation, and he expedited it a whole month earlier.

As soon as the surgery ended, my life changed for the better. Even though my nose was full of blood and had splints inserted into it, I could breathe better than I ever did in my life. A week later during the postop appointment, Dr. Holliday removed the splints and suctioned the crusting out of my nose. I instantly started breathing normally, and my whole world completely changed. Since then, I have felt extremely grateful to Dr. Holliday for the surgery that he performed on me. It makes me emotional to realize that the long period of my life in which I had constant sinus infections, and had no choice but to mouth-breathe in my sleep night after night, is over. Dr. Holliday changed my life. He is simply the best!

Dr. Connor was the best doctor I've ever had. He was very cool and we felt very comfortable talking with him. He also was able to explain things with such patience that allowed my entire family to understand. He was very attentive to me and was always there to answer questions, provide updates, or just talk. Cheryl L. H.

I'd like to compliment Cheryl L. Harris, a reimbursement specialist in the hematology/oncology department. I am a current patient at UCLA and have recently had to navigate several different out-of-pocket costs that I did not expect to incur. As a young adult patient, unexpected out-of-pocket costs are difficult to navigate, and I appreciate how Cheryl reached out to me and was incredibly communicative in helping me navigate the financial assistance programs related to these costs. She regularly responds to emails promptly and helps me access financial assistance that I would not have been able to access otherwise. Thank you so much for your help, Cheryl!

I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care provided by Stella Harding during my mother's recent hospitalization at UCLA Ronald Reagan hospital. From the moment we arrived at the hospital, Stella went above and beyond to ensure that our experience was as smooth and comfortable as possible.

Stella greeted us with warmth and kindness, instantly putting us at ease during a stressful time. Her professionalism was evident as she efficiently handled administrative tasks. What truly stood out, however, was Stella's genuine compassion and empathy. She took the time to listen to our concerns, offering reassurance and support every step of the way. Her caring demeanor provided a sense of comfort during a challenging time for our family.

Furthermore, Stella demonstrated remarkable attention to detail, ensuring that my mother's needs were met promptly and efficiently. Whether it was ensuring my mother had enough water and warm blankets or providing helpful information, she consistently went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and well-being.

Guadalupe M.

Guadalupe was so kind and patient on the phone. She went above and beyond to answer my question when the hospital billing dept ran me around in circles and Guadalupe even took it a step farther and helped me understand how to avoid a higher charge in the future by having my labs done at the lab instead of at urgent care

I would like to compliment Tamela R. for her relentless effort in securing much needed cancer medication on my behalf. Upon hearing an approval was still pending, she went above and beyond expectations to assure my patient care was not compromised. I have been with UCLA for my healthcare 5 years now and the standard of service not only from Tamela who is always kind by getting back to me when I call certainly aligns with the amazing care of my specialists.

Gabriela S.

This is review is long over due. I was referred to Dr. Gabriela Sauder by my oncologist. My previous PCP (who I loved) Dr. Esraghi was out on maternity leave. I was having trouble receiving care without a PCP. I have a very complicated medical history, so I was hesitant about seeing a new physician. And I am admittedly very picky. There was no need to worry, Dr, Sauder was knowledgeable, professional and caring. She runs on time, but I did not feel rushed. Or that she was one foot out the door. She communicates well and answers my questions through the portal with-in the day. This is not common for all physicians. She treated me with respect and kindness.

Daniel Uslan M.

This review is specific to Dr. Daniel Uslan, and Dr. Meher K. Singha in the Infectious Disease Department in Westwood. I admit, I was annoyed when I arrived. It took four month wait to get the appointment and a 1 1/2 hour drive. Then, I was told the doctor I was referred to was not there and I would be seeing the "Fellow" (still completing training). I got a little snippy with the receptionist. He assured me I was in good hands, he was patient and kind. I reluctantly stayed. Jon the LVN was professional, caring and funny. Silly Me. Dr. Singha was AMAZING. She took her time, listened to my concerns, had pre-read my consult notes. She carefully explained everything. Then she consulted with her attending, Dr. Daniel Z. Uslan. He came in and spent another 40 minutes with me and reviewed everything and carefully explained his thoughts. In the middle of the visit my husband texted to tell me he had Flu type A, so he was kind enough to write a prescription for prophylactic
Tamiflu. I am very picky about my health care team and I would highly recommend these outstanding physicians.

Mr. Tate M.

Mr. Tate came to help us clean up when my dad was recovering from a stroke. He went above and beyond just cleaning. He asked me my favorite color, then came back with a bracelet that has a tree, representing a family tree. I still wear this bracelet because it reminds me of his kindness when my family was going through something very difficult. My family still shares this experience and I want Mr. Tate to know how much I appreciated him then and now. Thank you for warming our hearts and your kindness. We appreciate you!
